Our take
I picked up the TRAKTOR KONTROL Z1 open box for a good price, and it's a solid compact mixer for TRAKTOR users. The build feels decent, and the integrated sound card works well with low latency. I like the 3-band EQ and the replaceable crossfader is a nice touch for longevity. The 8 pads are responsive for triggering samples or hot cues. However, being USB-powered means no standalone operation—you need a computer running TRAKTOR. Also, with only 2 channels, it's limited for larger setups. The rack-mountable design is handy but the plastic body doesn't feel super premium. Overall, a great value if you're already in the TRAKTOR ecosystem.
